Updated know your rights online training

Green and Black Cross are provided updated know your rights training which has been updated with the latest details from the policing and crime bill. This training is highly recommended for anyone who will be attending actions this year.

Join XR Stroud Samba – no musical experience necessary

​XR Stroud Samba are outdoors playing weekly again and everyone is welcome to join in. Instruments and earplugs are provided. And all experience levels are welcome as we provide all training. We normally practice on alternating Friday and Sundays at 7pm at Stratford Park Bandstand, you can find our next practice dates here​.

We’ve been given 3 slots on the Word stage at 2000 Trees, at around lunchtime on each day. 

We want to make the most of this presence, so we’ll need some help, can you help us by volunteering some time? Please reply to this email or get in touch if you have any skills that could help us.

Green drinks & discussion – for anyone interested in green stuff

​The Green Party are organising green drinks at Stroud Brewery on Thursday 23 June 7-10pm. This is an opportunity to network and meet other people volunteering, contributing or interested in doing more green work in the local area. Add your name to the ticket list if you’re interested​.

Here’s a message from our friends at XR Glos:

Through various connections XR Glos has been given an unprecedented opportunity to have a presence at this year’s Cheltenham Science Festival with a two table stall in the Discover Zone, Tues 7th to Sun 12th June, but we need YOUR help to make it as impactful as we can…

Primary catalysts are XR Cheltenham with help from around the XR Gloucestershire community & plans are coming together with support from XR Scientists and other members of our community.

The main attendees are up to 17,000 school children over the course of the event, plus their grown ups, plus many other companies exhibiting.

We have plans to encourage everyone to “Be the Change” by playing our “Climate Justice Game”, speaking with XR Scientists, learning how to block print Patches and more besides. 

We have an urgent need for anyone who can help with preparations and a rota for people who just want to come along & participate during the actual event days, mostly 10-5, with 2 late nights on Thursday (7.30) and Friday (10pm).

We would especially like to hear from anyone who has experience interacting with school children to talk with them about Climate Change Science and encourage them to learn and ask those awkward questions that will help tilt things towards getting on track to reduce consumption & re-generate our world.

• Someone to run a short example of a citizens assembly
• Teaching XR hand signals 
• Reading some poetry

Planning crowdfunding event for cross-section group of rebels

No dates to confirm for this one yet, just letting you know that we’re planning a fun summer fundraising event for rebels from XR, Just Stop Oil and Insulate Britain (as many rebels support more than one group). If you have any ideas for prizes that could be auctioned, or entertainment or music performance ideas, please let us know.

We’re circulating the date for the next London rebellion – September 10 – no more information than that at this stage, but please save the date, particularly if you were unable to join us for the spring rebellion.

Sorry it’s been so long since an update. I haven’t been able to attend meetings for a while for health reasons, but good news! We’re meeting outdoors again from tomorrow.

Meeting in person again next week

It’s nearly time for rebellion. Things are starting again in London on 9th April. It’s warming up and spring is nearly here, so it’s time to meet in person again.

From 16 March we’ll be meeting at the Trinity Rooms in Stroud at 7pm every Wednesday. Here’s how to find us if you’ve not visited us before.

I’ve uploaded a guide for securing your phone and computer for digital activism and I’d really recommend you read the information and implement the recommendations it suggests. Doing so keeps you and your fellow rebels safe when doing activism online and in person.
